Description

Lion's Roar supporter Jonathan DeYoe, author of Mindful Money: Simple Practices for Reaching Your Financial Goals and Increasing Your Happiness Dividend, says, "We make money far more complex than it needs to be." With this offering, he will support the successful bidder with a digital course to help them develop a personal financial plan based on simple exercises that are easy to understand and employ.

Jonathan also says that "I believe most of us for whom money is a difficult subject suffer because we focus on the wrong things about money, the things that our culture and the financial services world push us to focus on. It doesn't take specialized knowledge to focus on the right things. But, we have to stop predicting, start planning, and stay mindful."

The course includes step-by-step lessons to create your own financial plan including:

  • Debunk Financial Illusions: Many of our financial challenges begin with mistaken beliefs about where we should focus our energies.

  • Understand the Pillars of Happiness: Our plans should align our lives with those things philosophers, psychologists, and religious leaders have pointed to over centuries as foundations of meaning-filled and happy lives.

  • Improve Planning Decisions: there are very few levers we can pull that research has shown consistently lead to better financial outcomes. We will highlight those levers and help you build an action plan that you can follow.

  • Jonathan will also provide the successful bidder with a copy of his best-selling book Mindful Money with forward by Alice Walker.

Jonathan K. DeYoe is the founder and president of Mindful Money, a financial education and wealth management firm in Berkeley, CA. He writes for Business Insider and Huffington Post and has been featured in the NYTimes and the Wall Street Journal.
