Description

Lion's Roar supporter Jonathan DeYoe, author of Mindful Money: Simple Practices for Reaching Your Financial Goals and Increasing Your Happiness Dividend, says, "We make money far more complex than it needs to be." Simplifying the decisions starts with education.  The successful bidder will receive access to a digital education course that is specific to their current life stage (early, mid, or late-career).

Jonathan also says that "Most of us believe money is a difficult topic because we focus on the wrong things -- often because our culture and the financial services world push us to do so. It doesn't take specialized knowledge to focus on the right things. But, we have to stop predicting, start planning, and stay mindful."

The education courses available are:

  • Pathways (for recent graduates and early career individuals): focuses on financial psychology, savings and expenses, budgeting and automation, account management and advice, loans, paying off debt, and credit profile. As a bonus, Jonathan will include additional modules on income and taxes.

  • Accelerate (for mid-career individuals): focuses on financial psychology, paying off debt, income, taxes, risk & insurance, preparing to invest, and investing basics. As a bonus, Jonathan will also include modules on investing extras and how to survive a bear market.

  • Legacy (for late-career and near retirement individuals): focuses on money psychology, economics, taxes, risk & insurance, preparing to invest, investing basics, investing extras, and philanthropy. As a bonus, Jonathan will include modules on retirement planning and bear market survival.

Jonathan K. DeYoe is the founder and president of Mindful Money, a financial education and wealth management firm in Berkeley, CA. He writes for Business Insider and Huffington Post and has been featured in the NYTimes and the Wall Street Journal.
