Description
Handmade by Diane De Baun this combination incense burner and candle holder is imprinted with the Buddhist symbol of a shrivasta or endless knot motif and fired with a deep forest green glaze.
The Endless Knot or Lucky Diagram is common to many ancient cultures and has various meanings. In China it is associated with longevity, love, harmony and continuity. It is also known as the Glorious Knot or Eternal Knot in Buddhism, representing the Buddha's mind and teachings, his eternal compassion and wisdom, and, specifically, the Buddha's "twelve links of dependent origination" underlying the reality of the cycle of existence from his teachings. It is one of the Eight Auspiscious Symbols.
