Artist Statement - FRANCES LIGHTBOUND

Working primarily in print media, sculpture and installation, my work focuses on interactions between built environments and human bodies. After sustaining a traumatic brain injury in 2019, my own relationship to built space was radically altered for a period of time. While recovering I was unable to travel to my studio or operate workshop equipment, but spent time screen printing from my home - drawing upon architectural forms within my field of vision and referencing both shifting light patterns, and the visual and perceptual disturbances I experienced over the course of my recovery.
