Artist Statement: DANA DUMONT

My work allows me to explore and extend conversations while using everything from clay and glass to found objects or donated items. In addition to being a studio artist, I’ve taught art for decades. For me this means that along with the laughter and goodness of young artists and those who work with them, the constant use of multiple processes and media influences my work. Whether I'm creating fine craft pieces, design work, sculptures, or manipulated images, my understanding of the interplay between conversations, art, the natural world, and my travels inserts itself into and continues to inhabit my visual voice.
