Artist Statement: JENNIFER PLATE

I make art because I believe it is a facet of my whole being. It touches the physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual parts of myself. I know that when I am in a tough place with anxiety or other stress, especially now, with COVID and being furloughed, when I allow my hands to pursue the familiar techniques of quilting, knitting or crocheting, I can stay in the present moment and suddenly creativity starts to flow inside of me and can express itself through the piece or ideas for other art.
