Artist bio

Antonio Alvarez was born somewhere in Cuba, in a place whose name he does not care to remember. Since childhood he showed interest towards literature and painting, though his family quickly vetoed these interests. Immigrating to New York in his 20’s, he earned a bachelors degree in Spanish literature at Hunter College and for thirty years has owned his own conservation studio specializing in the care of artwork on paper. This gallery shows examples of his paintings — an amalgamation of experiences, friendships and a lifetime devoted to art — all executed as if his life depended on it.
