From the artist: Ninety percent of my work originates from photos taken on day outings and road trips. I see a view or specific item that interests me. That calls to me. I take photos and zoom in on the subject I want to paint. Then I do pencil sketches to get a feel for the subject and the surrounding background. There is a mental processing of how I will paint the subject before I touch a brush or mix paint. I might do two or three iterations before I am satisfied that I have accomplished what I set out to do.
