Description

Oyster hunting along the East Bay shoreline was a popular pastime and big business in the late 1890s. Several entrepreneurs, including Captain William Roberts of San Lorenzo, owned and farmed profitable oyster beds. Some people also went searching for the special treat on their own. These three unidentified gentleman have successfully harvested a good haul of oysters somewhere along the shoreline, possibly near Hayward, and are taking a moment to grab a drink.
