Description

Julia Grizzell's coloratura soprano voice sparkles in repertoire ranging from early Baroque to Contemporary.  Her performance for the winning bid will include popular *selectiions of those genres.


Julia's most recent performances include the role of High Priestess in Verdi's Aida with Bay Shore Lyric Opera,  Ensemble member in Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail with Opera San José, and a Recital of works for Voice and Lute with the Amherst Early Music Festival in Philadelphia. 


Miss Grizzell had the esteemed pleasure of singing at the Tanglewood Music Festival under the direction of world class conductors Charles Dutoit, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, and Bernard Haitink. Performances included Berlioz' La Damnation de Faust, Falla's La Vida Brève, and the world premiere of John Harbison's Koussevitsky Said.  Other ensemble performances include Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Brahms’ Requiem with the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Bach's St. John Passion with the Back Bay Chorale at Harvard University. 


As a coloratura soprano, Julia's favorite opera roles have been the 'Queen of the Night' (Mozart, The Magic Flute) with Biola Opera Theater, Zdenka (Strauss, Arabella) with Florida State Opera, Le Feu (Ravel, L'enfant et les sortilèges) with Bel Canto Northwest, and the "Voicestra" in the east coast premier of Michael Ching's opera a capella A Midsummer Night's Dream with Opera Hub Boston.


Julia Grizzell holds a Master of Music Graduate degree from Florida State University, and a Bachelor of Music from Biola Conservatory of Music, where she was selected by the faculty as 'Outstanding Musician of The Year' in both her Jr. and Sr. years.
