Description

We will paddle along the Coconut Grove waterfront learning about local history and the ecology of Biscayne Bay. Bayfront sites to be discussed depending on conditions and direction of tour: The Kampong-former home of David Fairchild, former DuPont estate, El Jardin (Carrollton School), Ransom Everglades School, La Brisa, The Barnacle-former home of Ralph Munroe, Peacock Park, Miami City Hall-former seaplane terminal of Pan American Airways. The kayak tour is for up to 8 people, 2-3 hours long, beginning and ending at the upper school. If the group wants to include time to eat lunch while on the water that can be pre-arranged. All food and water to be provided by the participants. Day, time and duration to be determined between purchaser and tour guide, Emerson Fales '86.


"When I am not substituting or coaching girls jv soccer at Ransom Everglades, I lead tours locally and across southern Florida. I lead kayak, bike and walking tours in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. I also lead longer trips out of town. I am a Florida Master Naturalist and passed the Red Cross’ 1st Aid/ CPR/ AED course."
