Miami-based artist William Osorio creates cerebral paintings that are executed with a mastery of formalism to translate the theoretical messages that permeate his works. Osorio crafts striking portraits through fragmented compositions that are rooted in exploring sentiments of place, identity, and deconstruction. Each work holds voluminous strokes of paint, thickly applied to juxtapose the fine grains of a synthesized wooden backing rendered realistically upon the canvas.
