On Sept. 16, 2014, Columbia Records released Barbra Streisand’s 34th Studio Album, Partners, with Streisand singing duets, featuring an all-male lineup. Among them was Billy Joel. They recorded New York State of Mind written by Joel. It was produced by Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds & Walter Afanasieff. This framed collector’s item of the lead sheet, signed by both recording stars, hangs on the wall of the piano room in Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Board Member Richard Jay-Alexander’s home, and he will proudly take it off the wall and send it to the highest bidder. The album, Partners, debuted at No. 1 and went platinum, selling over 1 million copies. Priceless.

Streisand and Joel are two of the best selling recording artists of all time. Their collaboration on New York State of Mind is a love letter to New York, celebrating the special place New York has in the hearts of these two legendary native New Yorkers, as it does for so many of us.
