Park Parent, Amon Millner has a collection of circuit board prototypes in his research lab that played roles in shaping how young learners at Park and around the world explore computing and creative expression using graphical-blocks-based programming environments. The winning bidder will receive one of these relics - such as an early prototype of sensor-based accessories that informed how the Scratch programming language was created, when Amon was part of the MIT Media Lab’s Lifelong Kindergarten team that invented and launched the platform. Alternatively, the auction winner could choose to take a piece of history from products such as the Kibo Robotics Kit, VexIQ System, or Unruly Splats that Amon’s Lab at Olin College influenced or invented. Prior to selecting the take-home artifact, the auction winner’s family will join Amon in a 90-minute hands-on experience with one of the blocks-based programming languages to create an interactive story or explore the paths less-traveled in such environments. The hands-on activity will take place between June 2021 and January 2022 at an agreed upon location (taking into consideration all social distancing that will be required for in-person engagement and how a remote session can be unforgettable should one be necessary).
