2018 Grenache Noir from Fore Family Vineyards,
a wonderful fruit-driven wine. The fresh scent of strawberries is first soon mingled with those of crème brulee, rich loam earth, and truffles. Some currant and darker fruit notes linger in the glass.
In the mouth, a delicious wine. The same fruit-driven components appear again in this nicely balanced, mid-weight wine. There is a lively acidity on the front of the palette that is quickly followed by elements of strawberries and truffles. Some white pepper and almost floral flavors appear and carry through the finish.
This wine was aged in neutral French oak barrels for 16 months.

2019 Grenache Blanc from Fore Family Vineyards
is a summertime favorite, the latest ripening of the Fore Vineyard’s grapes. It always provides interesting Thanksgiving conversation as this is usually still slowly fermenting in the cooler autumn conditions. Where the Fore Family Reds all rely on native yeast for fermentation, this –-and the other whites-- are inoculated with a chosen yeast. Fermentation temperatures are cold, to help maintain bright fresh fruit characteristics. There is no malo-lactic and the wine is aged in small stainless vessels post-fermentation. The wine was filtered prior to bottling. Nose: cantaloupe melon, Meyer lemon zest, fresh hay summer on the deck. Mouth: a bit less acidic than Albarino, it is at the same time weightier and more complex. Shows rocky stream, earthy fresh hay, and lemon flavors along with a very nice balance.
A wonderful white for a variety of situations.
We wanted to really showcase what the natural fruit characteristics of Grenache are, as grown by us on Cobb Mountain. To that end, we are hands-off in the cellar when possible, allowing native yeasts to complete the fermentation process before being inoculated for ML in the aging barrels.

Items purchased by bidders residing outside of Northern California will be shipped (if possible) on or around Tuesday, February 9, 2021 unless you tell us that you wish to pick up your item.
