2014 Allora Lusso Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, 1 bottle

Lusso in Italian means luxury. This wine is the true embodiment of luxury. It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Clone 15 which is a very rare, old clone. Only 100 cases are produced each year. Additionally, only wild yeast is used in the fermentation process. Although this method is extremely time-consuming and labor intensive, the extra time the grape skins and juice spend in extended maceration results in layer upon layer of complex, intense flavor as well as dark, dense color. The flavor profile of Lusso is truly indulgent with notes of espresso, dark chocolate, black raspberry and black currant while the texture has the richness of suede. The label showcases the incredible artwork of the world-renowned Margaret Keane whose life story was portrayed in the movie "Big Eyes."

Vintage: 2014

Harvest Notes: A dream vintage, with high quality throughout. Drought conditions and small crop size did prove to be minor irritants. Everything was ready to pick in mid-August.

Tasting Notes: This wine has aromas of black licorice, nutmeg, and red currant with hints of mocha and cherry concluding with a velvet-like texture and silky finish.

Blend: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

ALLORA The word Allora in Italian loosely translates to ‘so what’. It is a word that is often used in Italy as ‘whatever’, and we felt this best described our style as well. We want to share our passion for wine with all who visit. Allora Vineyards was established in 1999. The Proprietors of Allora are Terry & Nancy Klein and they manage the winery with their family. In 1998, the Klein’s came across a 15-acre parcel on the north end of Saint Helena which had been used solely as pasture grounds for over 50 years. The soil was ideal for a vineyard as it was a rich sandy-loam and clay. They purchased it and immediately got to work in preparing for a vineyard. Part of the preparation including consulting some of the most notable wine growers in Napa Valley. They assisted in selecting rootstock, vineyard orientation, sun exposure, clones, and varietals.

Wine Description from Maroon Wines:

From our estate vineyard in the Coombsville Appellation, a sweet spot for Cabernets. The wine is aged 30 months in French oak.

Our 2014 Maroon Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was harvested from our home vineyard in the Coombsville District of Napa Valley. It is a little cooler in the southern end of the valley, and we benefit from this by being able to ripen the grapes slowly and evenly. This wine was aged in French oak barrels for 30 months before bottling.

The wine has rich, alluring aromas of dark fruit and balanced oak. On the palate, the wine is bold, showing dark fruit flavors, nicely balanced with rich and creamy oak tones. The finish is long and lingering.
