Description

Remembering Margaret Zierdt
Margaret Zierdt was a teacher and librarian whose passion for women's history was extraordinary. A long time activist and writer, she created the first Celebrate Women birthday poster, which she painstakingly researched long before the internet.
Her support for the work of the NWHA was in a category all by itself.  When we faced the real jeopardy of having to close our doors around 2000, Margaret took out a second on her house to lend us the money we needed, a loan she later forgave.  She served on our Board of Directors for over a decade, contributed to our newsletters and publications. and even volunteered in the office in her 80s.
Margaret's jewelry collection is part of her legacy of generosity.  We are including some of her collection in our auction to honor her memory and continue her work of Writing Women Back into History.

Antique Necklace 1908
