Description

Join Jill on this Delightful and Informative Walk!

Camp Cavell is located in Lexington, Michigan on Beautiful Lake Huron.

Our Great Lakes Session is a walk and talk on and about the Great Lakes for up to 10 people. We take about 15 minutes for orientation and some show and tell with our display of "Great Lakes Great Finds".  Then we head to the beach and spend the rest of our time looking for treasures along the shore.

She will cover topics such as fossil identification, how sand is formed, beach mechanics, lake formation, zebra mussel invasion, shipwrecks & shipping, and rock identification.  We also search for Petoskey Stones and beach glass and try our hand at mining iron ore in the sand.

A beach picnic lunch is included!  Jill can adapt this program for adults, families, children.

Jill has been the director at Camp Cavell for 36 years and has gleaned many facts and stories about the Great Lakes.  She also completed studies in Coastal Environmental Studies.
