"Denik" (Journal) is the first-ever translation of excerpts from Thoreau's "Journal" into the Czech language. Published by Paseka at the end of 2020, the excerpts were selected and translated by Jan Hokes. The focus is on presenting not only Thoreau the writer, naturalist and transcendentalist but especially Thoreau the man. The translator dedicated his work on this volume to renowned Czech book editor Milan Machacek (1961-2017), who co-created the project.
