Re-centre and re-invigorate with this Mindful-Based Stress Reduction Workshop. Spring 2021
Wednesdays: 6:30p.m. - 9:00 p.m. from May 5 to June 23
All-Day Retreat: 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 12
The eight-week workshop includes:
~ guided instruction on mindfulness meditation practices
~ body awareness exercises, including gentle, mindful hatha yoga
~ individual exercises on how to apply mindfulness to daily life
~ group guidance, group process and peer support
~ daily assignments for home practice
~ audio recordings for daily 30- to 45-minute home practice sessions (many participants incorporate these into their lives after completing the workshop)
~ a home practice manual
There will also be discussion around stress physiology; stress reactivity; resistance; how mindfulness changes our relationship to our thoughts, emotions, pain, and perceptions; mindfulness versus autopilot; mind–body connection, mindful communication and more.
Structure:
MBSR is an intensive eight-week training program that includes weekly meetings lasting 2.5 hours. It also includes one all-day retreat, usually in the sixth week, on a Saturday or Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Participants are also asked to practice mindfulness meditation and/or mindful movement for 30 to 45 minutes a day using the provided instructional audio recordings. This format helps participants integrate mindfulness into daily life and makes the practice their own.
