Item Number: 196
Time Left: CLOSED

Description
The Carleton Place Canoe Club offers weekly summer camps for children aged 6-13. The Canoe Summer Camp program is a great way to get your kids playing outside, learning about water safety essentials, and developing skills and confidence in flat water canoeing and kayaking. This full week program is filled with fun and adventure, making use of the beautiful Mississippi River running through the heart of Carleton Place.
Participants will spend time learning to care for equipment, learning how to tip-turn-tow in their boats, and practicing skills in a variety of different types of paddle sport vessels. Their day will begin at 9:30am and end at 3:30pm. A typical day will be split into four 90-minute blocks, with 1-2 of those blocks being a dryland activity (game, crafts, etc.).
All canoe club staff are certified through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) with a minimum Canoe Kids Community Coach certification. They are also all licensed pleasure craft operators, first aid certified, and competent paddlers and swimmers. With safety as the first priority, having fun in a knowledgeable, social, and cooperative environment are key components to running this fun filled camp program.
