Personal statement on Emma elephant painting and drawing.

Painting the adorable and beautiful elephant Emma for Wildlife SOS was a great pleasure and honour; knowing that this is a good cause that will help mistreated animals such as Emma and all captive elephants in India

I took the approach of painting Emma's portrait in the same way I would if she were human; I looked for her character and soul within. After finding out all details about her life; that she is blind and was beaten so badly that she still carries the scars; that she was so undernourished that she never grew to her full size, and that she has constant pain in her feet and needs to rest a lot, I became very sad and extremely attached to her case.

I am following her rescue development on Instagram and I feel that I have adopted her in my imagination with the hope that a balance between the wild world and humans will be repaired sooner than later on this planet that we all must equally respect and share.
