Sandy of HeartfeltKeepsakes has donated a custom tealight candle holder featuring Emma - our first rescued elephant of 2021! 

A little about Emma ... Adorned with heavy ornamental garb, Emma was abused as a processional elephant and spent most of her life walking on concrete surfaces and hot tarmac roads. They would paint her in bright colours to make her visually appealing. She would lift one foot and then the other as if she were walking on hot coals. Once we got her to the hospital, we discovered she had rocks, glass, nails, and other debris embedded in her feet. Poor girl. She must have been in so much pain. 

She is now getting the care she needs at the Wildlife SOS Elephant Hospital. Her favorite foods are cauliflower and sugarcane, and she's our very best napper. Oh, and she has the lightest colored eyes of all our elephants.
