Adorned with heavy, ornamental garbs, Emma was abused as a processional elephant who spent most of her life walking on concrete surfaces and hot tarmac roads. 

Upon being intercepted by the Forest Department, it was revealed that she walked over 500 km with no valid documentation. Emma was seized and transferred to the Wildlife SOS Elephant Hospital for intensive care and treatment.
