Description
One of the 7 daughters of a sewing trainee at the Wildlife SOS skill development centre in Rajasthan, Sadiya is 13 years old and has a head full of dreams. She is a determined young girl who enjoys going to school and being engrossed in studies. There is nothing that makes Sadiya as happy as watching a good game of cricket. She aspires to be a teacher when she grows up and is thoroughly inspired by her teachers in school. Sadiya was unable to go to school during the pandemic which has been tough on her. She tells us how her family has been working at a nearby farm to make ends meet with the support from Wildlife SOS.
The COVID19 lockdown has been difficult for her family to fare through but the Kalandar community has received livelihood support during the pandemic. The Kalandar community was once involved in the barbaric practice of dancing bears for sustenance and survival. Wildlife SOS has worked extensively to eradicate the practice of dancing bears from the country. Additionally, these rescued bears have been rehabilitated at our rescue centers spread across the country. We have also provided sustainable alternative livelihoods to the Kalandar community. Your support to Sadiya will help her inch closer to her dreams and make a difference!
