Description
Afroj Bano is a joyous 11 year old, with 5 younger siblings who live in Chaksu, Rajasthan. She studies at the Government Upper Primary School and loves studying mathematics. She strives to become a teacher when she’s older, however the COVID 19 pandemic caused a major rift as Afroj could not attend school. She dearly missed attending school but managed to stay in touch with her teachers and was regular with her lessons.
The COVID19 lockdown has been difficult for her family to fare through but the Kalandar community has received livelihood support during the pandemic. The Kalandar community was once involved in the barbaric practice of dancing bears for sustenance and survival. Wildlife SOS has worked extensively to eradicate the practice of dancing bears from the country. Additionally, these rescued bears have been rehabilitated at our rescue centers spread across the country. We have also provided sustainable alternative livelihoods to the Kalandar community. Your support could help Afroj become a teacher one day.
