Description
With a bat in his hand, and running towards his next single, Jahid is a young man with an unmatched passion for the game of cricket. A 9th grade student at Muslim Secondary School, Rajasthan, he has resumed school since the pandemic had shut the school. He is aware of the intensity of the pandemic and is thus very careful in always wearing masks and maintaining social distancing in his class. One of his favourite subjects is Hindi and he intends on becoming a Hindi teacher when he’s older.
The COVID19 lockdown has been difficult for his family to fare through but the Kalandar community has received livelihood support during the pandemic. The Kalandar community was once involved in the barbaric practice of dancing bears for sustenance and survival. Wildlife SOS has worked extensively to eradicate the practice of dancing bears from the country. Additionally, these rescued bears have been rehabilitated at our rescue centers spread across the country. We have also provided sustainable alternative livelihoods to the Kalandar community. Your support could help Jahid become a teacher one day.
