Rubbi is an athletic young girl all at the age of 14 years  and she  loves playing volleyball. She is a 9th grader at Naveen Rajkiya High School, Uttar Pradesh.  She loves studying English and Home Science in school and is her teacher’s favourite. Rubbi has ambitions of becoming a police officer when she’s older and she works very hard to achieve her dreams, always doing well in her studies. Rubbi and her family fell upon hard times due to the pandemic when her father suffered from major fractures after an accident, which incapacitated the entire family. 

The COVID19 lockdown has been difficult for her family to fare through but the Kalandar community has received livelihood support during the pandemic. The Kalandar community was once involved in the barbaric practice of dancing bears for sustenance and survival. Wildlife SOS has worked extensively to eradicate the practice of dancing bears from the country. Additionally, these rescued bears have been rehabilitated at our rescue centers spread across the country. We have also provided sustainable alternative livelihoods to the Kalandar community.
