A term that became popular with Carl Jung, archetypes are something that have been with us since the beginning of civilization. A power animal is the archetypal spirit that represents the entire species of that animal and they are valuable allies who can help us navigate through life’s challenges and transitions. Many animals will come to guide us, some briefly and others throughout life. 

According Andean shamanic traditions the jaguar is a powerful archetypal spirit that is connected our Sacral Chakra representing the fearless, protective, and luminous warrior spirit of Hatun Otorongo (Great Jaguar). The jaguar shows us what needs to die and that it is our choice how to integrate this knowledge. Deeply connected to feelings the jaguar teaches us how to let go of past situations that no longer serve us, how to let go of sorrow transforming the pain from the past into valuable gifts. Bringing light to the dark shadowy realms of our being, the precious jewels that have stayed in the dark for too long finally emerge.
