Description
This could have been called Jai and His Freckles. We love this painting of our newest rescued bull.
Jai (pronounced Jay) was used as a begging elephant on busy city streets. His owner controlled him with tightly restrained spiked chains (which are illegal). He was rescued by Wildlife SOS in December 2020. He was slow to trust humans, understandably. But is learning to love life at the sanctuary, confidently taking strides in his spacious field, and slowly gaining physical and mental strength. He also loves his sugarcane and papaya treats!
Size: Original watercolor in 8 x 10 inch mat.
About the Artist: Belinda Stewart lives in St. Augustine, Florida. She works in all mediums but favors watercolors. She studied in private classes with famed watercolorist Mun Quan and art classes at Jacksonville University. All her watercolors are painted on professional Arches watercolor paper with Windsor Newton paints.
From the Artist: "Wildlife SOS has captured my heart with their ongoing love and care for all the animals retiring at their sanctuaries. From freeing Raju from chains and the legal battles to rescue sweet Mohan, it is an ongoing endeavor to save as many as possible. Since being retired, it has been pure joy seeing a photo posted of an elephant, bear or leopard and setting it aside to become inspiration for my watercolors and acrylics."
