Description
This year's icon raptor for the Gala, the Turkey Vulture, is a crowd favorite at the RMRP. Volunteer Karen Pitzen masterfully recreates 4 adorable poses of the RMRP's eldest Educational Ambassador. Hand painted with acrylic on birdseye maple. Each 4 inch square coaster features the artist's signature on the side and the Latin species name, Cathartes aura on the back. A unique felt coaster box for storage is included.
Special Instructions
The Turkey Vulture who inspired this work has been an Educational Ambassador with the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program since 1988. He was admitted with an old, healed fracture in the right wing, leaving him unable to fly. Frostbite due to being grounded led to the amputation of many of his toes. Despite his challenges, his inquisitive and sassy "bird"anality has created many new vulture lovers.
