This well-organized book extolls the virtues of raised beds for high-yield gardening. Part 1 treats preparation of beds, methods of gardening, and most productive crops. Part 2 includes means to extend normal growing seasons and solutions to regional problems. The "High Yield Plant Guide" is the most useful section for all gardeners and lists, for each plant, information about propagation, growing requirements, diseases, harvest and storage, and noteworthy varieties. A numbered directory (coordinated with earlier references) and a basic bibliography complete the work. This guide is unlikely to be the solution to every vegetable-gardening problem, but it does include much useful information for any gardener.
