100% Alpaca Handmade Scarf!  This scarf was crocheted by Seeing Eye Graduate Lisa Calhoun, who is currently working with her 5th Seeing Eye Dog, Cricket. It is made from 100% Alpaca fiber and no dyes were used on it, the color is the true color of the Alpaca it came from, a beautifully elegant light brown. It took her two weeks to complete this wonderful scarf. She used the half double crochet stitch for the majority of this scarf, so that it would be a tighter weave. A double crochet stitch was used near each end, to add a little contrast. Alpaca is extremely warm and usually does not irritate the skin like wool can.  Most people who are allergic to wool can wear Alpaca. It measures approximately 54 inches long and 8 inches wide. It has a lot of stretch to it and the measurements were taken with it laying flat and not stretched out. A side note, the Alpaca this fiber came from is owned by a friend of Lisa’s and she has met him in person.  He is a sweet Alpaca living on a farm in Virginia.
