Description

Enjoy your choice of a private one-hour presentation for 5-8 guests on one of the following topics by International Bird Rescue Executive Director JD Bergeron. Talk includes a 15-minute Q&A session.

Second Chances for Seabirds
International Bird Rescue inspires people to act toward balance with the natural world by rescuing waterbirds in crisis. This talk is an introduction to aquatic bird rescue and rehabilitation, including a picture-filled tour of the species with which we work and the role that International Bird Rescue has played for nearly 50 years through response, rehabilitation, research, education, and innovation.

Finding Wisdom on Midway Atoll
In 2018 JD participated in the annual nesting albatross census on Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge is located within the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument, approximately 1,350 miles northwest of Honolulu. JD brings home all the latest information, and amazing visuals, about his work on the census to share with our community.

Midway Atoll is the site of the "world's largest albatross nesting colony as well as numerous other globally important species such as the federally endangered Hawaiian monk seal and Laysan duck. The work conducted by the nesting albatross census team, or "Bird Counters" on Midway Atoll provides vital information found few places on earth to researchers, managers, conservation groups and the global community interested in preserving and protecting oceanic seabirds and their nesting habitats.
