I have watched recent wildfire seasons with alarm. Thank you, firefighters!

Usually I paint using oils, but for the Ashes to Art Project, I painted with acrylics so I could incorporate ground wildfire charcoal into my dark paint mixes. I also sketched the premininary drawing using a stick of wildfire charcoal. I love the gritty and sparkly texture the charcoal added to the painting.

I am a nature lover and enjoy being out in wild places. I support conservation efforts and often donate my work for fund-raisers that address climate change or wildlife issues. I have spent a lot of time in Colorado and I am honored to suppor the Ashes to Art Project, 2021!
