Description

Pastel and charcoal, 19 x 24 inches

Artist: Geordi Robinson SC

I call this piece, "Resilience of the Forest." I wanted to show that, though the forest is charred and burned from raging wildfires, it could still thrive in due time. The sliver of the sun and its rays represent a sense of hope and overcoming. This is also demonstrated in the small pockets of grass and the few leaves beginning to grow back on the trees. The forest is crippled but certainly not defeated. The piece was made from traditional pastels but also by mixing actual charred wood in with the pastels to give a more natural and authentic feel.
