"Fire Ball"

From my deck in Loveland, each eerie eve

I can smell and see the smoke

Hurling from the mountain tops

Plumes so high in the blackened sky

The sun, blood red, reflecting on our calm pond

Ashes falling from this angry Abyss

All around, on me, and everywhere

I cry out, "Look! There's a fierce flare up"

Then I see the monstrous, ominous Fire Ball

Like Fire Works at the lake, but worse

All hues of hot reds, yellows, and oranges

Feelings of awe, I dip my brush into my palette

With acrylic, watercolor and ashes

I hope to capture the emotion and essence:

Frightened Humanity and Fauna

Fleeing for their lives,

Fire fighters so brave and fatigued,

Fighting to save the forest and dwellings-

With everything in their burning path

Turning to Ashes!

I dedicate these ashes preserved in "Fire Ball"

to all those Entangled-

Their courage, heroism, fortitude, resilience

Working together for Renewal and Rehabilitation.

With Appreciate and Admiration, Deborah J Jansen
