Sensei Dean started training in 1999 at the age of 13. Within a few years he started Assistant Instructing, and received his Black Belt in 2005. By 2008 Sensei Dean was teaching all classes at the school. When Rocco Parrillo, owner and founder of Rising Sun, passed away in 2009, Sensei Dean was surprised to hear that Shihan Rocco had left the school to him.
