Katie is a mom of 7 year old, Ethan. Ethan was diagnosed with an Optic Pathway Glioma brain tumor at 5 months old.  He did 14 months of chemotherapy, got a couple years off and then did an additional 6 months of chemo at the end of 2016 and has been off treatment since then.  As a result of his tumor Ethan lost his vision but he doesn't let that slow him down, he loves swimming, riding his scooter, horseback riding, going to concerts (pre-COVID times) and listening to Dodger baseball.  

An Optic Pathway Glioma Brain Tumor is a slow-growing tumor that arises in or around the optic nerve and as the tumor progresses, it presses on the optic nerve causing the child's vision to worsen. Blindness occurs in about 5% of the cases.
