Description

This item includes two bags of high-quality flour from Heartland Mill, a small-batch, artisanal mill in northeast Kansas. One is a five-pound bag of organic, malted, All-Purpose flour; the other contains two pounds of stone-ground and "bolted" heritage Turkey whole wheat. Also included is a 33-ounce, Kilner clip-top jar, with sourdough starter.

What to do with all this? For tips and recipes, see “Artisanal Homemade Bread Made Simple,” a detailed article by the item’s donor, Kirkwood homeowner Todd Oppenheimer, an avid baker. Todd wrote the story for Craftsmanship Quarterly, the multimedia magazine he publishes, and is available (at toddopsf@gmail.com) for consultation, baking tales, and bread photo swaps.
