Title: Palimpsest XV
Medium: Oil on Linen
Dimensions: 24x30
Description: In ancient times parchment paper and tablets were very rare therefore the writings on manuscripts and other writing surfaces were effaced by washing, scraping or erasing the original text to reuse it. Palimpsests often reveal the history of an object or a painting with traces of pervious work. In this painting entitled Palimpsest XV the two faded figures, may suggest they are attempting to reveal themselves or perhaps they are being erased. Did anyone listen to their story or were they silenced? Was history altered or intentionally washed away. There lies the question, will the truth emerge or permanently be erased.
