"Over the course of my long art career, I have done many art forms. However, it is batik which was the major one for over 40 years. During the last few, I have added mixed media non representational paintings, collage works and have become fascinated by the unpredictability of encaustic monotypes. My current series reflect my heritage, thus calling them "Personal Biography". Hungary is the country of my birth. Its language and culture were a large part of my upbringing, including during the five years living in Bavaria after the war and then emigrating to the United States in 1950. Over the decades, travels have taken me to many parts of the world: Indonesia, Japan, China and most countries in Europe. Provence proved to be the most inspirational, but Hungary remains closest to my heart." Katalin Ehling
