"The phrases on my heart sum up the outpouring of support I felt from so many friends when I returned home to Carmel in 2013 after living away for several years. The background colors represent the beautiful sunsets at my beloved Carmel Beach where I frequently walk."
LAURA CRYSTINA ALEXANDER took up painting in 2017, embracing the meditative process of making art to alleviate her pain resulting from an injury. Having previously worked as an interior designer, Alexander shifted her love of color and form to express her personal perspective. Encouraged by the results, she proceeded to delve into the psychological benefits of art-making and pursued a credential in transformational life coaching from Sofia University. In 2020, Alexander officially became a creative coach as well as a working artist. The Brave Art Journey, a course she has developed, utilizes the power of creativity to deal with life challenges.

Shipment of hearts: Leadership Carmel is willing to facilitate shipping of Heart, with the winning bidder assuming all responsibility and all costs for packing and shipping, being paid in advance. Agreement must be made with Leadership Carmel to handle shipping arrangements in advance of the 8/30/21 deadline for pick up. The heart with no base weighs 40 lbs., is 10" thick (at widest point of heart) x 52"wide(at widest portion of heart) x 60" tall (Base to top of heart).
Base info: Each heart is built on an integral tube steel stand (2"dia x visible 6") and plate (1/4" thick x 12"x12"). For the art display in Carmel, the heart on stand is sitting inside of and anchored to a steel box (24"x24") with 8-Travertine bricks (6"x12"x2") covering the base plate. The steel box and travertine bricks are not included in the auction price.The steel base box, anchoring hardware and Travertine bricks may be purchased separately by arrangement with Leadership Carmel and would increase shipping weight by 165lbs. Please let leadership know if you wish to purchase base prior to picking up heart.
