"I find poppies and quails so enticing to paint: their coloration, textures, and movement. Both appear in the most unuusual places, brightening even a weathered road sign or a dusty trail. How serendipitous that they are our State bird and flower."
ALYSON DE GUIGNÉ is deeply Californian. The fourth generation of her family with ties to the Monterey Peninsula, de Guigné is also related to Ansel Adams. After graduating from the University of Southern California, she worked in the film industry before returning to Carmel and shifting her creative focus to painting. Her fine art is held in private collections across the United States. As the artist-owner of Freedom Art (in Carmel-by-the-Sea), de Guigné has also developed a line of small scale artworks, including greeting cards and homegoods, tailored for destinations from Carmel to Napa, and from San Francisco to Nantucket.

Winning Bid pick up info: All pick up, delivery and shipping costs to final destination are the responsibility of the winning bidder and are not included in the auction price. Shipment of hearts: Leadership Carmel is willing to facilitate shipping of Heart, with the winning bidder assuming all responsibility and all costs for packing and shipping, being paid in advance. Agreement must be made with Leadership Carmel to handle shipping arrangements in advance of the 8/30/21 deadline for pick up. The heart with no base weighs 40 lbs., is 10" thick (at widest point of heart) x 52"wide(at widest portion of heart) x 60" tall (Base to top of heart).
Base info: Each heart is built on an integral tube steel stand (2"dia x visible 6") and plate (1/4" thick x 12"x12"). For the art display in Carmel, the heart on stand is sitting inside of and anchored to a steel box (24"x24") with 8-Travertine bricks (6"x12"x2") covering the base plate. The steel box and travertine bricks are not included in the auction price.The steel base box, anchoring hardware and Travertine bricks may be purchased separately by arrangement with Leadership Carmel and would increase shipping weight by 165lbs. Please let leadership know if you wish to purchase base prior to picking up heart.
