Description

"Painting this heart was a great opportunity to show a different aspect of Carmel. Former mayor Clint Eastwood is one of my all-time favorite actors and directors, so I placed his image in a strip of film. The back shows a bold sunset, to continue the Wild West mood."

SCOTT JACOBS has been painting and drawing since he was a child. Artistic accomplishment, and portraiture in particular, run in the family. His great uncle, Daniel Charles French, designed the statue of Abraham Lincoln in the Lincoln Memorial. Jacobs works primarily in oils and watercolors, and is known for his photorealistic likenesses to public figures. His 2008 painting "Someday has Come," featured on CNN World News depicts then Senator Obama in front of an American flag. Jacobs's joy in everyday subjects extends to local landscapes, including wharf scenes, and to exploring what connects us to the spiritual world.
