Description

Celebrated as one of the most influential Na Wahine Alakai (women leaders) on the island of Kauai, Sabra Kauka shares her passion for Hawaiian culture by teaching both young and old.

A very special cultural and artistic experience awaits you learning the art of Hawaiian Kapa making using traditional methods and tools while you learn about the history and use of the "Wauke" or Paper mulberry trees, along with plants used for dyes.

Along the way to the hale (house), Curator of Living Collections Mike DeMotta will lead you through the "The Hawaiian Life Canoe Garden", designed as a showcase for plants the first Hawaiians introduced to the islands.
