Established in 1972, Dry Creek Vineyard is the flagship Dry Creek Valley winery located in the heart of Sonoma County, California. As the region's first new wine producer following Prohibition, founder David Stare paved the way for a viticultural rebirth in this vibrant winegrowing appellation. Dry Creek Vineyard is recognized as the first winery to plant Sauvignon Blanc in the Dry Creek Valley, and was also the first to use the term Meritage with the 1985 vintage to describe blended red wines made with the classic Bordeaux grapes.

The Mariner 2017 vintage is a Meritage wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. The 2017 Mariner is a well-measured wine that exhibits a sense of tailored richness and inviting complexity right from the start. Its layered aromas of currants, berries and plums are enriched with notes of loam and sweet oak spice, all of which carry through in its lengthy, very like-minded flavors, and its well-integrated tannins lend structural firmness without toughening. Never flamboyant, but as steady as they come, it asks for another three to five years before being brought to the table.
