Handcrafted drum by native craftsmen from Taos Pueblo. Drums are typically made from one of three types of wood: cottonwood, pine or aspen. Rawhide is the other material used; it is soaked in water until it can be stretched over the hollowed trunks and it is it used to tie the bottom and top piece together.

Special Instructions

Established in the 1300’s, the Southern Tiwa-speaking community of Isleta is, and long has been, one of the largest Eastern Pueblo towns in New Mexico.
