David Byrne was a founding member and the principal songwriter, lead singer and guitarist of the new wave band Talking Heads. He has also worked extensively behind the scenes in film (taking home the Oscar for Best Original Score for The Last Emperor) and in opera, and is an accomplished author of fiction and nonfiction. Today, he's made the leap to Broadway starring in his own musical American Utopia, which first played at the Hudson Theatre and has reopened at Broadway's St. James Theatre.
