Description

Steam power expanded the world and launched a revolution in transport that propelled us into the twentieth century. This vividly illustrated volume by Dean Server tells the story of the successes, setbacks, and grand experiments of steam power.

The most compelling aspect of this large book (9 x 13") is the illustrations that appear on every page--colored paintings, old photographs, advertisements from the 1800's, some spread across both pages--that give a view of a past in which steam was just begininng to change our world.

Introduce children to a wholly different world, give adults a glimpse of a transition that continues to this day, and let any reader stare rapt at the beauty of this work.
